Slideshows (Part 2)
Flowgram
This company went bankrupt as of June 30th, 2009.
MagToo
This way cool slideshow creator will create a slideshow from your uploaded photos or photos from your computer. You can select from a great variety of transitions and effects. One of the best things about this site is the available music that you can incorporate into your slideshow (MagShow). You can also add captions, backgrounds, and skins.
As you can tell, the video starts automatically- so it would not be a great idea to have more than one of these visible on a single page at any given time.
(click to start the music)
Registration (free) is optional but necessary if you want to edit your shows later. Email address is not verified during registration.
RockYou
&
Slide.com
Rock You (and Slide.com) is similar to MagToo in many ways. You upload your photos, give each a caption (optional), select different effects, transitions, and music. Then you simply save your show. Free registration is required if you want to go back and edit the slideshow. Otherwise, RockYou will host your slideshow which can be embedded into blogs, wikis, etc.
You can start/stop the music by clicking on the speaker icon in the lower left of the slideshow area.
RockYou has some very unique transitions that are really great- like this example ("Revolver"). Slide.com has some different effects/transitions.
Caution to Educators
: Some of the music selections and skins may have some references to content which may not be suitable for all students. Check out the site and use your professional judgment. You may want to reserve the use of this tool for you as a teacher, rather than turning students loose at this site.
Moblyng
Akin to RockYou and MagToo (the interfaces are almost identical), this site is touted as the slideshow generator for mobile devices. It works great for embedding as a widget into a blog or wiki as well. The effects and styles are slightly different than the other two, as is the music. You may import images or use your online photo hosting (like Flickr).
You may create a slideshow anonymously without registration but will not be able to make edits to your show. Registration (free) is required to make edits, comments, etc.
MyPlick
This site allows you to upload your presentations in a variety of formats including .ppt .pdf .odp & Google presentations. While the conversion process does not support PowerPoint animations or embedded audio, you may upload audio (.mp3 .wav .wma .au) or link to an exisitng .mp3 file with a URL. Once audio is uploaded, you can use their cool sync tool to synchronize your audio files with your slides. In addition, you can mark your shows public or private. Each slide can be up to 50 MB and each slideshow can be up to 150 slides in length.
Anonymous slideshows can be created by registration (free) is required for future editing.
Viewers can download the PPT file and/or MP3 files unless you state otherwise.
Slidelive
Don't let the name fool you- while you can deliver live presentations using this nifty tool, the meeting can be
asynchronous
as well.
ODP and PPT files only (no pptx)
Can be private or public (users need a passcode to view and/or download)
Can store up to 5 presentations at once
Viewers don't need to create an account to view or download the presentation
Advancing the slides was near real-time when tested
Slideshare
This is another great choice for uploading your presentations to share. Keep these features in mind:
Upload PPT, PDF presentations, OpenOffice presentations
Share publicly or privately
Download, bookmark, or search other presentations
Sync audio with your slideshow (hosted MP3 files only)- built-in tool for synchronization

Embed into blogs or other websites
